Where to buy an IPTV subscription in 2026 — and where not to

The safest place to buy is almost always the provider itself. Here is why — and the places that cost people money.

The short answer

Buy an IPTV subscription directly from the provider's own website, after a free trial, with a payment method you can dispute. Licensed live-TV services sell through their own sites and official app stores. Avoid social-media sellers, marketplace listings and anyone who asks for gift cards.

Where not to buy

  • Social media and chat groups. No company, no terms, no way to get your money back.
  • Marketplace listings for "fully loaded" boxes. The FTC warns that pirate streaming apps and add-ons often come with malware that can spread across your home network.
  • Anyone asking for gift cards. No legitimate business takes payment that way.

Five checks before you pay

  1. Get a trial and use it during a live game at prime time.
  2. Read the refund policy — the actual page, not a promise in chat.
  3. Confirm the number of screens your plan covers at once.
  4. Check your connection. The FCC lists 5–8 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K per stream.
  5. Make sure nothing auto-renews unless you want it to.

What a fair price looks like

Licensed live-TV streaming in the US runs from about $25 to roughly $90 a month for the big cable-replacement packages. Independent IPTV subscriptions are sold by term — a year is common — and work out far cheaper per month. Two rules keep you safe whichever you choose: compare the total you will pay over a year rather than the monthly teaser, and be suspicious of anything priced so low that it cannot possibly cover the cost of running servers and support.

What should happen after you buy

A good provider sends your login and setup instructions quickly, tells you how many screens you can use, and gives you a way to reach a person when something breaks. If the first message after payment is a request for more money, a "verification fee" or a different payment method, stop and ask for a refund.

Monthly or yearly?

Longer terms cost less per month, but they also put more money at risk if the service turns out to be wrong for you. Test first, start with the shortest term you are comfortable with, and extend once you have watched a few busy evenings and a live game without problems.
